Hi

My partner is in the military and has been posted to America for 3 years. He has no choice in the matter and has to go. I would really like to go with him, but as we are not married we have no legal rights to help me get a visa to be with him. I have been told that I should try and get one in my own right. However this is not as easy as it seems.

I am a nurse in the UK and in order to practice over there I have to pass some exams and get through a rather complicated administrative process, which can take up to a year. If I can get a temp license I will then be able to apply for a job, and if I can find a job I will be able to get sponsorship to apply for the H1B visa which allows me to live there and to work. can anyone confirm whether this is correct?

My partner is due to move in Febrary and I am hoping to go with him as finding a job and passing these exams would be much easier if I could do it from the states. Would the B2 visa allow me to be out there and to organise this?

Stacey
