Can anyone advise on security locks for Patio Doors that are easy to fit or alternatively recommend someone to fit locks. They need to come under the following insurance requirments. We are in Armacao de Pera
"Sliding patio doors are fitted with and are in
operation either:
• key-operated sliding door locks top and bottom or
• deadlock or catches securing into the frame operated by an internal handle or
• any internal patio door lock, or key operated lock mounted internally on the central rails."
Many thanks again.

We purchased ours from Leroys and they meet your insurance requirements. They were easy enough to fit but you will need a drill and a steady hand.
Cant remember the price exactly but I believe it was around 30 euros for 4 ot 9 euros for 1. The packs of all come with the same keys. If you buy the singular ones, then you are likely to have a different key for each lock. They also have a couple of types so you can decide which is best for you. Colours....silver, white or black but you can spray them (we did) if your doors are a different colour and you want to match them. Note: Leroys do run out of them quite quickly, but they seem to restock every couple of weeks.

We purchased at Leroy, too but ours require no key. You simply drill a hole into the door opposite where the lock is mounted and voila - the bad guys can't lift the sliding doors off the tracks (well, unless they make a lot of noise and are the Hulk). In our case we also made a second hole so we could leave the door open enough for our dog to exit and enter at night but still be secure.

| There is a drogaria in Gale which sells locks for patio doors. You need a drill as you drill through the two window frames where they cross over when closed. A bolt is then put through the lock and a key secures it. We fitted these to our windows and they work great. Means that the doors cannot be lifted out of the frames.
