Easy and delicious dish..:) its name means : Kebab made in pot ( hallah in arabic = pot) best served for : Lunch (L) -------------- Kabab Hallah Time of Preparation: 10 Minutes Cooking Time : 60-45 minutes ( could be less based upon the veal) Serving : 5 persons Ingredients : 1 carrot – small size – shredded 1 table spoon of Garlic crushed 2 table spoons of Ghee / margarine or 1/3 cup of vegetable oil 3 cardamon 2 cups of boiled water ( till it covers the meat) ½ tea spoon of all spices Salt and pepper 2 onions – large size – finely chopped 1kg of meat ( cubes ) veal or beef Directions 1. In a medium deep pan, heat ghee / margarine or oil over medium heat. Stir in onions, garlic and carrots until golden. 2. Add meat and stir until its water is absorbed (about 15 minutes). Add pepper, all spices, cardamom and stir well until meat is brown. 3. Add the boiling water. Reduce heat, cover pan and leave to cook for about 1hour adding water frequently when needed to keep meat saucy and well done. Serve right away. – stir from time to time , In case of veal cubes, they take less time and less water in cooking. You can add fried potato cubes to the dish before meat is completely cooked to mix for about 10 minutes with sauce. Served with White rice  for more recipes :www.wasfasahla.com

To All members In my local town a club has been set up by the Spanish community, for all foreigners that live in the area. Its aims are to integrate all into the community, at the moment there is little interest from most of the foreigners and I put this down to the lack of advertising from the committee members. The cost of joining the club is put at 20 euros for a family, and 15 euros as a single person. I have a couple of questions that I would like the members of the Spanish forum to answer for me. 1. How would you go about generating interest in such a club? 2. What would interest you in joining a club like this? 3. On a subscription basis how much would you pay a year to be a member? 4. What other things would you like from a club, i.e. Trips out, Meals, Language Sessions or other activities? Thank you for any comments that you may make. David.

I took our dog from Portugal to the UK, but had a problem at French customs. Thre issue was that the dates on the dog passport issued by a Portuguese vet suggested that the passport was issued on a different date to that when the microchip was implanted. The passport and microchip should be done at the same time. The Portuguese vet had to correct the dates by FAX. Egypt: what activities you miss ?

In terms of activities - nothing too much except evening classes - there is a whole culture in the UK of evening classes in everything from A to Z, even to degree or higher level. Like JB, the thing I miss most is not being able to call a craftsperson up and have them come round and fix things - do the WHOLE job properly and CLEAN UP after themselves and bring their OWN tools! I know I'd be prepared to pay extra for trained craftspersons who do this. Having said that, having been seriously ripped off in the UK by plumbers and knowing of many friends, families and colleagues totally ripped off by cowboy builders there is a serious fundamental issue with builders and plumbers in the whole of the world, not just here! Except Poland apparently. I can't help thinking someone is missing a seriously good opportunity here with the growth of the middle classes!
