Advice on schools and acommodation in Gurgaon
Posted: Wed Jun 30, 2010 6:34 pm
Hi we are British and moved here in January. Our location was based around locality to a suitable school.
We looked at the British school but no hope getting in. If you are living in Gurgaon that School is also quite a distance.
Our daughter is 5 and was at a small private school in the UK so our move had to suit her as much as us. The problem with the majority of schools is distance.
Pathways is a good international school but is about 45 mins away. We weren't happy with a coach trip of that long for our 5 year old, although it is the norm here. There is a pathways being built in Gurgaon for the future.
Just by visiting the schools on offer we went with gut feeling and ended up with American Excelsior, which our daughter seems happy enough with. It is only 5 mins from our home in DLF phase V and they have a creche which our 2 year old attends.
If you want to settle the kids in this is a good start. If you are talking academia then maybe think again if you are still here in three years.
There is a lot of different accomadation on offer but it aint cheap and is completely dependant on your budget. Let me know what amount you were thinking and I can tell you from the most expensive down.
We are happy we chose Gurgaon over Delhi. We looked at property in Vashant Vihar and Shanti and Anand Niketan, but as we were no longer after the London lifestyle we once had this has suited best.
