any of you use Digiturk?

Post Posted: Tue Aug 31, 2010 1:36 am

I've been a subscriber of Digiturk from almost day one of their broadcasts,
I've seen programs come and programs go.

Is it just me or have they dropped BBC? Why?

I can no longer access BBC Entertainment or BBC News!

The other English language news channel is gone..What was it called?
Only CNN is accessible.

Or maybe something's wrong with my antenna.

Any ideas?

Thanks

No we don't use Digiturk but looked on their site- the economic packet used to have BBC Entertainment but doesn't seem to now.
Have you phoned them?
We used to be able to pick up the Beeb on our dish but it's been gone for several years now. BBC News is still on.
The Turk Telekom cable system had BBC, not sure if they do now tho'.

We are having no problems picking up BBC Entertainment but are not on the economic subscription.
They do change them around a bit so maybe they have taken it off.
Glad you pointed that out as we are considering maving to the lower tarrif subscription and may now think again although many of the films showing are not what you would call recent.
I would be surprised if BBC News has gone. I think the other news channels you are thinking of are Euronews and /or Al Jazeera

Spoke w/a friend who has digi, recommends you getting them to 'rescan' the box. This happened to them and lots of channels disappeared but they rang digi and now everything is back to normal! Smile
Good luck!
Please let us know how you get on! Thanks.

Hi there...Well, I called Digiturk and they said they'd tell their local (!) service provider and they would contact me. Later that day, they did call but almost the first word out of their mouth was 'it's going to cost you TL 130 for us to come out and check'

I couldn't believe it! In the end, I changed my subscription to 'economy' because I don't watch much tv anyway and when i do, it's almost always documentaries. I'm saving TL !5 a month and if i don't get BBC, i won't die.
my news comes from Internet sources anyway.

I was shocked at the amount they wanted though for service. There's an electronics shop in town that said they could come out and check for me. these are the guys that moved my antennae when we added onto the terrace two years ago. I have nothing to lose if i decide i want them to check it out.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Unfortunately haven't heard very good reports re these digi bods and it seems in out of the way places the local 'reps' are a bit cheeky!

Have you looked into tivi bu? That's a prog downloaded onto comp and one pays, if I'm not mistaken, a lira per month. From Turk telekom. Our son arranged it for me although I rarely watch it! It's v handy for sports events tho'. And I did watch Strictly Come Dancing on Sat! More fool me!
All the best Smile
