Ooops forgot to mention about the visa process... I know it varies depending where in the globe you come from.... it was slightly different for us compared to our South African friends... but I do know you and the children will need a full medical at home and one when you get to Saudi ... don't ask me why... just put it down to that is the way it is.... it makes no sense but with Saudi's it doesn't have to!
The timing for you heading out here will be perfect as you will miss the summer heat... (It is off the planet ....... it's too warm now! Thanks goodness for air con) and the school are closed until the beginning of September anyway.
Cheers and catch you soon

Hi all

I have been reading this thread with interest as it seems there is a good chance we might be moving from Oman to Al-Khobar in September ish.
So many questions - where to start...
Schools?? We have two kids one aged 12 and one aged 14 - i believe the British school only goes up to year 9 which is fine for my younger one. Anyone any info on the British grammar school - is it a british school or an international school? We might just put the older one into Boarding school in the UK as another option.

I have no idea where the company has housing and it is difficult to ask as it isn't common knowledge that we may be moving htere yet! It ia an oil related company and the housing allowance here is quite generous so I am assuming it will be there too - are there mayn older kids in the compounds there - i guess there are hoards of younger kids but maybe no so many older children?

Any information greatfully accepted!

Hi there
You will be pleased to know there is british based school available in Kohbar for your older child if you want it. I will check to see if there is a website for the school...and post up the information. What some parents also do is send their children over daily to St Christophers in Bahrain which is a good school.
There are older children about on the compounds but it all depends on the what families are currently residing on them.

I'll get back to you soon
Have a good one!

My husband and I are moving to Al khobar within the next couple of months. His employer has secured accommodation at albustan village. Does anyone have some info on the Al-Hada compound at albustan?
Much appreciated
