SGK

For all English expats living in Turkey please ensure that you keep in touch with the British Consulate (For what it's worth) to find out the latest situation re the SGK. As it stands as of the 28th December 2012, unless there is some agreement between England & Turkey, any retired expats living in Turkey without a private health policy could find themselves being forced to leave the country.

Please note that this situation could be also other foreign nationals living in Turkey.
In Turkey I know from experience that it is very difficult to obtain health insurance if you are over the age of 65. It is also very expensive.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING
There is a meeting in London on the 21st January to discuss Consulate Services Abroad, which is basically their role in assisting Brits living abroad. There have been several complaints about lack of replies to letters to the Ambassador in Turkey requesting help. With others complaining about lawyers (Avukats) recommended by the Consul in Turkey. If you have had any problems related to issues regarding the above, then you might consider contacting Jacqueline Tillyer on FaceBook, who I understand will be attending the meeting.
Your views on this could well help all us Brits living out of England.
