The property is at the source of the Fonte do Salgueiros which along with the nearby Fonte da Mona were originally the source of water for those living in the nearby village. With the village having its only centrally located font since the 1930s, the new owner can enjoy the benefit of a more than plentiful supply of crystal clear water.
Surrounded by high, dry stone walls which have been restored by the current owner, there are many fruit trees along with 32 ancient olive trees which in 2014 produced a yield of 70 litres of cold-pressed organic extra virgin olive oil. Also on the land are many old and well-established vines which have been restored to being fully productive. The yield in 2014 was 150 litres of red wine and the new owner can emulate the success of the current owner if desired by entering the regional wine competition where the 2013 vintage was placed fourth.
Also on the land are orange trees as well as lemon, fig, plum, apple, loquat, prickly pear (figo da india) and marmello. There are young cherry, lime, peach and pomegranate which are already thriving and will soon bear fruit. The spring months also brings a good harvest of wild asparagus across the land.
Within the olive grove, there is plenty of shade to place a yurt or tipi for extra accommodation.

Whilst the property has no need for any grid tie, the nearest electricity connection is 200 metres and there is a telephone connection 250 m away. Mobile wifi is currently utilised at the property with a 3G connection. Access to the property is very good.
For day to day needs, the village of Medelim can be reached in less than 15 minutes on foot or 2 minutes by car. Famous for being the 'village of the balconies', there is a post office, pharmacy, restaurant, petrol station, a couple of bars and cafes as well as a general goods shop for all your daily needs. There is also a regular bread delivery by van as well as a weekly fish van.
Rural, but not remote, there are supermarkets less than 15 minutes away in Penamacor and Idanha-A-Nova and the cities of Castelo Branco and Fundao are a 45 minute drive away for larger purchases or day to day needs.
