Health care

Post Posted: Wed Oct 26, 2016 3:10 pm

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone can advise on private health cover.
My wife and I plan to retire to Kefilonia on a small military pension and savings, we are now concerned that with Uk leavin Eu we will have to have private health cover.
I have enquire'd from Uk and prices takeover half my pension but have been advised to take it out in Greece. Any advice would be appreciated
Thank you
John

It is possible to get cheap health insurance covering Greek state hospitals from private insurance companies in Greece, such as Ethniki Asfalistiki ( a subsidiary of the National Bank of Greece) or NN a Dutch insurance company which has a subsidiary in Greece. In Kefalonia, there are only state hospitals as far as I know. If (help God) your hospital condition becomes more serious you can be sent to the University hospital in Patra for no extra cost. This covers state hospital treatment throughout Greece. I do know an insurance broker in Athens who speaks English and worked for a British school in the past, her name is Fouli Zani, fixed phone number is 00302106252202.

The name of the insurance broker is Zografia Zanni. Her nickname is Fouli. She works at the Maroussi (a suburb of Athens) branch of Ethniki Asfalistiki. For any further queries my email is paulikonomougouras @ yahoo.co.uk. I am a lawyer in Athens helping the British community in Greece.
