Retiring & Substantial Rpesence

Post Posted: Sat Jan 14, 2017 1:06 am

Myself & my wife are looking to retire to Sth Africa. I am on a pension & we have income outside the pension. I am having trouble finding out how the tax works on a Retirement visa & our income. If any one can help it would be great.

Hi
Over the years I have advised many people who were considering a move to South Africa.
If your income is generated or comes from a country outside of South Africa you do not need to pay any tax. However, why not call your nearest South African Consulate they are usually very helpful.
What I can help you with is general advice on e.g. cost of living, good places to live, rental and property questions, safety, climate, traffic/roads etc. I am unsure if I am permitted to quote my email here, but here it is( wittig48 @ hotmail.com) should you wish to continue this dialogue.
Wishing you all the best, you will hopefully be moving to one of the worlds' best countries.
Uli
