WEATHER IN BULGARIA

Post Posted: Thu Jan 19, 2017 11:49 pm

We are coming over next week to VARNA, just to try the area for a while. Short stay to see what winter is like near the Black Sea. Looking to live near the coast in the future. We're just selling up here in UK ready to try over there in March.

I see on my friends home CCTV that there is a fair bit of snow in Meden Kladanetz (Near Yambol) and I was thinking of visiting it to check all was in order. So my Question is, What are trunk roads like? is it worth me hiring a car?

Apparently worst weather for a long time or is it.

I'm sure there is plenty to see in Varna this time of year and looking forward to visit. Very Happy

Hi Frank

You pick your moments Smile Yes this is unusual to have this much snow. I have been told not as bad as this for over 60 years

There is a lots of snow all over BG at the moment, a bit worse in Varna than here in Burgas and if driving you will need to be very careful. Most of the bigger roads are easily passable now but some villages are not so easy. Should also be on snow tyres

Are you flying into Varna? if so you can check this before deciding on driving

lima.api.bg/dashboard

You can use google translate to see info

Lets hope the snow stops and you get a good visit. Do you know where you fancy buying and what sort of property ? There are so many places for sale at the moment so take your time and Good luck

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I pick my moments. We're flying into Varna so I'll use the link, then shuttle to hotel.

If travel is awkward then a few bars and restuarants it is.

If I get opportunity I'll visit Meden as thats were I'll be living till we decide to stay and pick a place of our own. Give us a chance to see how Brexit sorts itself out too.

regards

Frank

Let us know how it goes and keep in touch :). My sister and Bro in law will be doing the same sort of thing later in the year. If you end up going near Sozopol you can call in for a visit, I am in Ravna Gora

Anyway, have fun

from Novanite

New heavy snowfall has disrupted traffic across Bulgaria, with the country's north-west and south most severely affected.

In Varna region, third- and fourth-class roads remain closed for a second day.

As many as 142 snow plows are operating in Sofia on Thursday morning, but their work is hampered by the constant snowfall, according to news website Dnevnik.bg.

In two municipalities, one in Silistra in the north-east and another in Haskovo in the south, children will not go to school on Thursday.

Movement of trucks along International Road E-79 is restricted in Montana region in the north.
