Any Advice? Moving to Sharjah soon

Post Posted: Mon Jan 23, 2017 12:31 pm

Hi we are an Aussie couple with an 1.5 year old daughter moving to Sharjah soon.

What is life like there? Any advice?

I need recommendations for good (Western) nursery schools for my child.

What are good activities around for young kids?
Are there any playgroups etc for expat mums with kids?

Hi,

We have been here for 12 years and our daughter was also brought up here (9yrs).
Schools have an international flavour and names, however they may not all live up to the International standards you may be used to back home.
Yes there are some Mums groups and for us those who are still here we are connected with since same age as your daughter.

Cost of living here has risen sharply in the last 12 months, its a topic of conversation.
However not all expats have the same experience due the packages they receive and therefore I reserve further comments.

Its a good city to live in and depending whether you are in preference for an apartment or a villa it will place you in different parts of the city and travel options.

I suggest you take some time to get to know the roads and the commute to work before committing to a place to rent. This prudent planning can save you a lot of time in the car.

activities are based on the time of year, right now its as much outdoors as you can, when summer is here then its sadly indoors due to excessive heat.

All the best.

Hanif

If you are looking out for packers and movers in UAE, I would suggest Al Ahil Movers. They did a brilliant job when i was moving from Abu Dhabi to Sharjah. They even did all the necessary installation before i even reached my house in Sharjah. Defenitely a thumbs up! You can reach them at 0561342053
