Adult cohousing project in Guanajuato, Mexico
Subforums: Property for Sale/Rent
I'm looking for people who may be interested in joining a small (10-14 person) cohousing project in Guanajuato City. I've lived and worked here 20 years and am about to retire. A few years ago, I built a 3bdrm/2bath house all on one level, located in an eco-zone overlooking the city on one side and the Presa Soledad (reservoir) on the other, about 20 minutes to the centro. The idea is to convert the house into a communal area, and have people (including me) build private duplex/cottages nearby. I have the communal house; I have ample land. I seek a few fellow pioneers with vision and drive to help get the ball rolling and make it happen.
Cohousing is a relatively new and fast-growing trend in the U.S. A March, 2017 report from The
Cohousing Association of the United States confirms there are now 160 functioning co-housing communities and 130 in the process of starting in the U.S. I believe it is do-able here, and for a LOT less $ than in the U.S. If the idea appeals to you or you're just curious about the concept of cohousing, there is a wealth of information on-line. I welcome any questions, advice or comment.
Since my first post, most of the serious interest has come from couples (ages 30-40), so I have reconsidered my original idea of making this a seniors-only venture. Couples or singles (adults) ages 30-60 welcomed! Contact me if you'd like to see more photos (only one allowed on this post)
