British style meats

Post Posted: Fri Aug 18, 2017 4:11 am

Hi Everyone,

I will be visiting Miami next month and am wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a British style butcher. I'm specifically looking for British style sausages and bacon, and some cornish pasties and pork pies would really be the icing on the cake!

I'd really appreciate any help........

Hi
We have lived in the US for almost two years and have real problems with this. Cornish pasties and pork pies we make ourselves, even trusty amazon.com does not help here, execpt how to make them, but getting ground pork is not easy. Your best bet is to buy all of it online. We participate in "wine walks" in our store in Big Bear Lake and attract a huge crowd with our English offerings, stilton, scotch eggs and the like.
Having spent hours researching the only supplier I know of is Parkers British Institution which was set up to give the thousands of Brits living in the USA a taste of home. You can buy all of your requirements from them at www.parkersbritishinst.../our-story
Arrange with your hotel or timeshare to receive your package. Deliveries by Fedex or UPS are standard here often with two day delivery. Food is packed in insulated containers often with ice I have never had a problem in ordering food fresh or otherwise online.
My project for next week is to make a Christmas cake, sourcing glace cherries and treacle has been a challenge, but done successfully.
Good luck and enjoy Miami after the storm - how about the west coast next time??????

Dear Janet,

Thank you so much for your recommendations. We were in touch with Parkers, and they seem the most reliable way to go. As we emailed a so called "proper" sausage shop in the city we mentioned, but they never bothered to respond.

Continue to enjoy your wanderings, and thanks once again for your help.

Regards......
