repair needed: garage door opener

Post Posted: Fri Jul 09, 2010 6:53 pm

Can anyone recommend a repairman for an automatic garage door opener? I am not sure what is wrong with it, but replacing the batteries to the remote did not fix it. It came with the house, so I have no idea where it was purchased. West Algarve preffered (Portimão or Lagos). Many thanks!

1st stop is to see if any fuses in the motor/control box. Then see who fits auto gates and doors in your area and pop in and ask about repairs. (sorry I am Loule so only know of companies in this area)

have you tried opening it with the small blipper when it is cooler, we had that problem three days ago and when the tempreture reached 40 degrees there is an automatic cut out, in the thing sounds like an april fool joke but other people could not get there cars out of the garages in the midday heat

Dannea, thanks for the tip! It did quit working during that heat wave. It has been cooler the last couple of days, but we haven't tried to open the garage door. Will try first thing tomorrow morning. I hope that's what it was...

Many thanks!

It was 40 degrees at Vale de Telha??
We're only a few Km's north, and we didn't anywhere near that.

Providing you can get into garage, theres always a system to disengage the motor, so you can use door manually.
On ours it's a toggle just above connecting arm to top of door.
