Marmaris is a large town on the Mediterranean coast, it boasts the largest marina in TR and is the departure point for ferries to Rhodes island.
It is home to many expats from all over and is a popular place to retire.
Datca is a small town on the peninsula of the same name, about 45 miles from Marmaris.
Prices here are lower than in Marmaris and the pace of life slower so it would make for a pleasant place to retire to.

Alanya in Antalya Province is home to about 45,000 foreign residents. The expat population has given the town the honour of having the highest population of foreign-born residents in TR!
Nordic, Finnish, Danish, Polish, German, Russian and English are just a few of the nations represented. The town has a cemetery for foreigners as well as a church.
Alanya is a very pretty town. However, over the past few years the town has become densely developed, with several new constructions and high apartment blocks. It is also an hour's drive from the nearest airport.
International airports near Alanya, Turkey-

45 km: Gazipasa, Turkey (GZP / LTFG) Antalya Gazipaşa Airport
126 km: Antalya, Turkey (AYT / LTAI) Antalya Airport
282 km: Konya, Turkey (KYA / LTAN) Konya Airport
415 km: Nicosia, Cyprus (ECN / LCEN) Ercan International Airport
459 km: Larnaca, Cyprus (LCA / LCLK) Larnaca International Airport
547 km: Paphos, Cyprus (PFO / LCPH) Paphos International Airport

Most people have some kind of sweet or candy they enjoy.
Our next set of 5 is a list of Turkish sweets or candies.

Our first sweet/candy would have been suitable for Easter but as it is always on sale in TR, one can find it in most shops any time one wishes to indulge! Smile
Perhaps you have come across it in your part of the world.
It's the Kinder Surprise Chocolate Egg. Aimed at children, it is a chocolate egg with a little plastic container inside that contains a tiny toy.
It's actually quite controversial and dangerous. Unfortunately children have choked on toys and shockingly there have been tragic deaths as a result. It appears that the egg is banned in the USA and Chile because of the risk to children.

After the long hot summer, we're all feeling much cooler now! Ready for some extra calories in the form of a lovely bar of chocolate or piece of candy! Smile
Laviva is the name of a chocolate bar by the Ulker company. It consists of a chocolate flavoured biscuit topped with a bitter chocolate filling and the whole bar is covered in milk chocolate.
It is quite nice and as it's only 35 grams, one knows exactly how much one has consumed!
The amazing thing about it is that it's only 1 TL! Today 1 GBP =5.07947TRY!
I would say - good value.
See a picture here

Enjoy! Smile

Our third sample is by another TR company- Eti- based in the Anatolian city of Eskisehir.
It's a plain (dark) chocolate bar filled with fruits of the forest- raspberries, strawberries and blueberries.
Sounds nice enough but although it's chock full of these fruits, they seem crispy when one is eating the bar, weird! It's redeeming feature is that there is plenty of dark chocolate in each bite!
It's 1.75 TL for a 25g baton.
The packet is very pretty and on opening it looks as if it's going to be great.......
See what you think

Our fourth indulgence is the Ulker brand, dark (bitter/plain) chocolate bar called Caramio.
In my opinion it is worth the one and a half or so lira one pays for it! Smile
Nice chocolate with a pleasant caramel centre.
Good value for 35 grams. Again, at least one can calculate the calories!
Picture here
Do Rolos still exist? You might imagine this bar is like them but it isn't...........

Hope you're all enjoying the Holiday Season! Smile
Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy, peaceful New Year! Smile
