Removals suggestions from UK to Germany

Post Posted: Mon Mar 28, 2016 4:06 am

Hi all,
I am planning to move to Bremerhaven, North Germany in end of July/early August. I am currently in UK, just outside London.

I was wondering whether anyone can suggest a reliable moving company that is also reasonably priced for a small move (no furniture just personal items). I have obtained quotes from quite a number of companies and price ranging from £200 up to £1000 for approx 10boxes.

Has anyone used Movecorp? They were the cheapest quote that I received, so am wondering how reliable are they? If there are other companies you've used, please let me know how they were.

Thank you.

Hi, back in 2012 we moved from the UK to the US and just like you, we didn't have furniture, only personal items. We used Seven Seas worldwide. It's a door to door service in which you pack your stuff yourself, they pick everything up, ship and deliver to the door of your new home.

They provided the boxes, tape, bubble wrap and on the scheduled day they will come over to pick the boxes up. You also get free storage for 1 month at the destination country.

Their website for moving to Germany is: www.sevenseasworldwide...to-germany

If I remember it correctly, all in all we paid around 1100 pounds (that's to the US). And I remember all the other companies were much more expensive.

When you are talking to different companies make sure you are asking lots of questions about how many packers, if there's a site inspection before hand, insurance, do they bring a scale so you know the weight of your shipment, can you find reviews online, how long have they been in service, things like that...

When we relocated from the US to the UK (2007) we used Crown relocation and they were amazing, but the company paid for the cost, so we didn't have to do much. When we did on our own, we did most of the work ourselves...

Good luck! Flavia
