Vehicle Registration and "Gestoria" services?

Post Posted: Wed Dec 27, 2017 7:36 pm

Hello. I was told that one should use a Gestoria to help with registration and inspection of one's automobile. As a non-EU member, what is the process to get a vehicle inspected and registered?

Also, is it mandatory to have a vehicle with EU-specifications when living in Spain?

Thanks!

Burton,

I bought my Spanish car from a dealer. Everything was handled by them. From what I can tell this is a tricky area and not one I felt was worth grappling with so I left it to the experts for this first purchase. I have been very happy with the outcome going this route. Some things don't seem worth saving money and this was definitely one area. I would get help to avoid a lot of potential hassles should you be stopped by the Police (especially if you don't speak Spanish well) and not have the proper documentation.

Best of luck.
Kerri
