If you're living in Portugal then presumably you're registered as a resident?

If so, you're entitled to register with the NHS here & get a Doctor's prescription for whatever you need & can collect them from a Pharmacy.

UK entitlement to PT NHS with/without SS number

The process is on those links but in short, you take your NIF document, Residencia & Passport to your local Centro do Saude aka Health Centre & tell them you need to register.......... If you're working, you'll also need a Social Security number, if you're not working or if you're retired you shouldn't need a SS number but this is fairly(ish) new & you might have to debate that one & if you're in receipt of a State Pension then you need to get an S1 document from the UK & hand that in as well.

The S1 refers only to which country eventually pays for the treatment & in that case, it'll be the UK.

I should point out that for some bizarre reason the coastal areas, particularly the Algarve often seem to be more awkward than some other areas in this regard but you are entitled to register etc so don't give up & be prepared to argue if necessary.

Once registered, you make an appointment to see the GP & then get your prescriptions sorted out................. You probably know this but most people pay small amounts per service such as about €5 to see a GP & a bit more for a specialist & a little per prescription................ There are exceptions to that such as if you're diabetic in which case appointments etc are free.

If you require repeat prescriptions etc you can email the Doctor to tell them what you need & they'll email or text you the prescription.
