July 27 Royal Decree on Free Universal healthcare

Post Posted: Tue Aug 28, 2018 7:57 am

Since the sponsors of this site are commercial insurance companies, this may not get posted. On the captioned datethe Spanish legislature passed a new royal decree reversing the previous political partys efforts to do away with the pre 2012 healthcare law that provided everyone with free Universal healthcare if a resident in Spain. Currently Andalucía and more specifically Malaga has sent communication to those on Convenio Especial that they qualify for state funded healthcare. (Read the Decree) There is a section of the decree stating that the Convenio Especial should have been stopped by August 1. Of course, most of the country is just now trying to figure out what to do with this. There is another section of the decree that empowers the various autonomous regions to establish enrollment procedures. At present, everyone except Andalucía is in a wait and see pattern. Please look up the Decree on line and read it as I will not interpret it. For some reason I did not see this posted anywhere here yet. Nobody knows yet about the British Expats.
