Fuel Shortage Notice !

Post Posted: Tue Apr 16, 2019 4:30 pm

HGV Drivers who hold a "Dangerous Goods" Licence are on strike , adhesion is 100%
Be aware that there's now a "run" going on as drivers attempt to fill up while there is fuel available
It was reported early today ,that Lisboa Airport was in trouble ,as to Faro & Porto no solid info given.
If you need fuel , you will have to be quick ,as NO new delivers are taking place
And it's only going to get worse !!!!!

The garages in Coimbra had queues stretching way down the street this afternoon.

An update to Ingles' post is that the government have made an order that supplies have to go to priority customers. A few tanker loads left the refineries this afternoon but only heading for Lisbon and Faro airports.

Carris buses in Lisbon have run out and the emergency services are seriously concerned about their stock levels.

No idea :- They where looking for a lot off concessions ,inc a very large salary rise.
As & when more info comes out , I'm sure somebody will post it.

To be honest driving here in PT is always a gamble , but with thousands off litres of inflammable fluid 2-3 meters from the cab, the slightest accident could be a death sentence for the driver !
This is one off the reasons for the demand for the salary increase

Yes.

We know that they gained negotiations between the employers and the union, to take place between now and December 31st, with the government acting as mediator.

The union is asking for 5 things :

1) A separate category for drivers transporting dangerous goods. At the moment they're treated identically to HGV drivers in terms of base salary which is 630€ monthly - they are asking for 1200 base.

2) An adjustment of the danger subsidy, currently calculated at 7.50€ daily. According to the union's lawyer there are drivers working up to 16 hours a day with no adjustment to that figure.

3) Special training at the cost of the employer The drivers are currently required to hold a couple of certificates but are demanding more specialised training

4) Life insurance specific to dangerous goods transportation

5) Medical exams specific to the risks inherent in the job

Thanks Colonel. The next meeting between both sides is on 29th.

The drivers are also claiming that some employers are making them exceed the legislated driving hours, but I'll take that one with a pinch of salt.
