Hi Pete,

I see you've been a busy bee again! I continue to be impressed by your determination to find out what you need to know, get a job and get organised for your move to Portugal.
Thanks as well for the Hays Recruitment site and the info about new office in Porto, really useful.

Keep up the good work, and keep us up-to-date with your progress Smile

Jo

Hi Jon/Pete

How is the search for work going??

Re gardening I hope you are clued up on gardening in sand Laughing We are having a house built in VDT and there is just sand and wind.

The one thing I have found difficult to locate is a PC doctor. We have found someone but absoutely miles away. I think anyone who is good at resolving PC issues, installing broadband and wireless to the less technical may do quite well if they are patient and advertise/market their services well and are realistically priced.

Hi ( Hi again, piglet Smile )

If the admin. can see any use in a 'computer help' thread, in order to keep everybody up-and-running, I'd be glad to contribute to it.

Hi Piglet, not much happening on the job front at the moment as we haven't moved yet - still waiting to sell here Crying or Very sad But Hays Recruitment sent me the latest report on the market in logistics jobs in the central/north area, and it looks quite promising. They also sent me the latest report on salary levels in that field , and it oooks better than I expected. I can't see much point in pushing on the job front until we're over there. In the meantime , I found a Brazilian lady who lectures at Southampton Uni to give me private lessons which will of course help when we get over there. Once we're there and we have a fixed address I plan to re-create my CV in EU standard format(in Portuguese) and re-send it to all the companies who haven't given me a flat 'No' , which is most of the 100+ I originally emailed. I'll also be making an appointment with Hays in Porto, as well as doing plenty of 'cold-calling' in the job search.

Hope all is well with you? Look forward to hearing from you soon Smile

Pete

Hi Pete

I admire your tenacity re the job front!!

RE Selling house. Have you thought of selling privately through

www.thelittlehousecompany.co.uk

we were successful in locating a buyer for our property. Have a read on the sellers section as you can still have your sole estate agents...

Good Luck

Hi, I found this link through a search for property for sale in Portugal (Beiras region). We are looking for a "project" for summer vacations. We live in Dubai so have the beach - need some greenery and history! Basically looking for somewhere to escape to!

We have been to Alentejo and Northern Portugal (love them both) we are travelling to the Beiras in August to check it out as that seems to be where the little gems are (under 35,000 euros sounds about right for us). We have already got quite a few contacts as well as already arranged for cottage / carhire etc.

Any insights would be appreicated.... Very Happy

Thanks!
