Hurricane Katrina – We Need Your Help

Please don’t keep this event to yourself. Please spread the word to all your family, friends, coworkers and neighbors.

EWC (Expats Who Care) is organizing THE largest expat yard sale (rommelmarkt) to help send donations to those suffering from the Katrina Hurricane disaster. All proceeds will be donated on behalf of all the expatriates in Holland to the American Red Cross in attempts to bring some comfort and to show that we care.

All items being sold are second hand items that have been donated by fellow expats and friends. The yard sale (rommelmarkt) will be held on October 1st, 2005 at the Zwarte Markt in Beverwijk. (see below for route description and where to find us within the market) . The market hours are from 09.00 tot 19.00.

Entry Costs (this is the price to enter the entire market)

EUR 1,20 per persoon
Tot 10.00 uur gratis toegang.
Kinderen t/m 12 jaar gehele dag gratis toegang.

More Market Info is provided at the end of this email.

We need all the help and donations we can get at this moment.

- jewelry (costume)

If you would like to donate clothing or household items, please contact our EWC Regional Drop Off Coordinator below via email to receive phone information/drop off addresses.

We are also in need of volunteers to come and help at the sale. If you are interested, please contact the EWC coordinator below.

Hi there,

Just to say hello, welcome you to the site and wish you the best of luck with the sale/market. It's a great idea and I hope that telling people about it on here will encourage a few more people to come along.

I think you can't fail to be moved by reports of the suffering and damage caused by the hurricane, and it's important to feel like you as an individual can do something to help those people affected by it. This kind of group effort is brilliant Smile

If anyone wishes to make a donation, then the advice I have seen refers you to sites such as that of the American Red Cross:

Good luck on October 1st - will someone let us know how much money is raised, too?

Thank you,

Jo James

Thanks James! The donations are pouring in, literally. We are having to rent a moving van to collect them and a storage building to hold them in. Once the sale is over and the donation is made, I will make sure to post back here to let you know how much we raised. We are also thankful to have a couple of companies who are going to match our donation. It's amazing how many people have opened their hearts at this moment.
