KUWAIT - working, AUK
I am considering applying for a professor position at the AUK, which I understand is a very young institution.
First, I am curious about salary expectations. I (of course) have a Ph.D. and 7 years of higher education experience as a professor and lecturer, especially on the teaching side of things (which is AUK's emphasis according to the ad). What type of salary should I expect - please specify if benefits (like housing, etc) are included or not. They are asking for salary quotes - do they play games and should I expect to fight for a decent salary (should I quote high, etc).
Second, I am also curious about the quality of life in Kuwait (Kuwait City I believe for AUK). I don't drink alcohol, so I don't care about that. And, being on an American academic schedule, I hope to be away from June to September to miss some of those extremely hot days.
Would love to hear about people's experience.
