Learn Spanish in 138 words - Synergy Spanish
Posted: Mon Mar 31, 2008 12:50 pm
Reposted here in the Spanish section.
Hi folk. Presently located in South Africa, we are looking to move to Spain, (Newbie early days). Have found a Spanish language website called Synergy Spanish, run by a Marcus Santamaria, claiming to Quote "
With this simple method it takes just 138 words to express just about anything you want to say in Spanish". Has anyone heard of this. Apparently, it's not Tarzan Spanish ( Hello, Me Tarzan, you Jane). Seems far fetched but just maybe. (Only $50) Not the money but don't want to waste time.
Appreciate any comments here....

Hello ivorb,
Welcome to the Spanish Forum, as for your post "Learn Spanish in 138 words" Sounds too good to be true, and you know what that means? I have lived here in Spain now for six years, and in that time have learned to speak Spanish so that I am understood by most Spanish that I come into contact with.
I had a few lessons when I first arrived but I could not handle the School approach, so ventured out on my own to bar's where the locals hung out. That was the way I improved my Spanish, cheap and word perfect.
Good Luck with your Spanish lessons.
David SR

Thanks Countryboy. I would agree. Very skeptical but hey, maye someone out there did it.
(Lots of newbie questions for anyone). Any idea where one get details (nitty gritty) on immigration etc. Have looked at the Spanish govt. website but of course I don't understand Spanish. I know we can get in as I am a South African British subject, however I have a SA wife.
I also want to bring two dogs with me but can only find info for pet's travelling within the Eurozone. I assume a quarantine of sorts. Regards

Thanks David. Appreciate that and will look forward to whatever you can find. Just downloaded the moving guide as well. Good document but very broad.
Kind regards,

Hi ivorb
Don't know if this is allowed but I am using a very good tutor called Essential Spanish from Earworms. It's quite inexpensive and I find it really good. Should find it on the net but if not pm me and I'll give you the details.
P.s. Countryboy don't work for them just trying to help

That's a fair comment and I just wanted to add that it's intentionally so, primarily to appeal to as broad a range of prospective expats as possible, including those who haven't made up their mind where they want to go yet! In theory, the more detailed information on a per country basis should be available in the country guides or via the forums.
Cheers,
Jamie
