Really important question...

Post Posted: Sun Jun 29, 2008 3:40 pm

This could be the most important question I ever have to ask on this forum: can you get CSI on TV in the UAE? My wife would like to know because it's her favourite TV show.

While I'm on the subject of TV, can anyone give advice on the different satellite providers there? We are used to Sky TV and wondered if an equivalent service is available over there.

Thanks..

G

You can also get the (technically) illegal decoders which will give you a movable dish, multiple satellites and lots of interesting channels.... Pay TV in the middle east is expensive and pretty substandard so the multi-satellite option can be a good one.

Hey Grant!

Well they do say that their is always one pivotal fact that sways a relocation decision, and CSI could be the one!

A couple of other options which some use.

Slingbox www.slingmedia.com/ - Good option if you are keeping a property in the UK with a sky account.

UK Nova is as legal as download site get, it only allows downloads of programming not currently available for sale on DVD etc. No Movies or other commercialy available downloads allowed. Linked with U torrent etc is a pretty common method of getting currently showing series without becoming an "illegal downloader!"

3rd option is to......Forget TV and go have "sundowners" on the beach with some friends!

Fair comment though - If I was told I couldn't watch Doctor Who in the UAE, I'd start packing!

Grant LOL

I too love CSI! One thing I found out pretty quickly though with living here is that you are never home to watch it! But that is where the DVD lady comes in where you can buy a box set for 10 dirham per disc, so usually about 100 dirhams or so to get the whole series!

The DVD lady! Good idea Auusi Di.

I'm not allowed to have the DVD lady bring her case until Mrs Y&F is back in country to supervise her viewing proposals... Shocked

Fair comment. Rolling Eyes
