Barbados & Moving From UK to work

Post Posted: Wed Sep 24, 2008 11:11 pm

Hi guys

This is my first post on the forum so apologies if this is the wrong area!?

Basically i have been offered a job as a Quantity Surveyor at Assistant level for what i believe is a small / medium house builder on the island. I have their offer and am currently just discussing some smaller details with them before i make my final decision.

My question to the forum is how can i expect the transition to go - is Barbados a nice place to live - it certainly looks like it is!

Another problem / query i have is the living costs! I have a mate working over there looking at rental prices etc as i want to be sure my salary will allow me to live comfortably if i do decide to move over. My situation is noway near as complicated as most as i will be travelling over there as a single man with no dependencies so all ill have to worry about is the general cost of living! What should i expect to be paying for a fairly long term rental / are utilities extra on top of rental or inclusive / are they expensive if not included?

Sorry for the essay but id like to hear from people who have found themselves in a similar position to me?

Many Thanks

Shane
