Are there any keen fishermen our there

Post Posted: Thu Dec 15, 2005 9:36 pm

My hubby is a keen (fanatic really) fisherman and would like to get to know any other expats who are into fishing. Any places that you can recomend will make his Christmas, he is missing his hobby.
Thanks

Thanks for that, I am sure he will take you up.We have bought a piece of land by a lakeside at the Smoylan lakes. When the project has been finished we will put a couple of log cabins on the land and make a living by renting then out to fishermen(and women),it is well stocked with carp, bass barbel and we have been told by a BG that a catfish at 180 kilo has bee caught there. We have a great river in Smilyan that is good for fishing but at the moment my hubby is finishing our extension, so it will be another week before he can get his fix.We are also going to buy near Karjalhi soon and do fishing holidays there. ?
Where do you fish in BG

Wait until I tell my Hubby that you keep fish but don't fish..... it is a way of life with him and of course many more. I paint landscapes whilst he is messing about with his tackle! Merry Christmas

Hi Di,
Did you say you have bought some land at Smolyan Lakes are there fish there big enough to eat and do they through everything back less than 9 inches?

We have driven past the lakes many times on our journey between Stoikite and Smolyan but apart from eating at the restaraunt never ventured any further, maybe next time.

Happy New Year

Hello Di, I have tried to message you but haven't gotten thru. Welcome to Chokmanovo. appearently you arrived a few weeks after we left (we are summer people- live in san francisco where we don't have snow) I'm sure you can figure out which house is ours, the architect and the americanka who spent the summer renovating the house on the hill. I read in one of your notes that you have winter pics of the village, and we would love to see them, although there is one posted from last winter on photo forum.

In answer to your fishing query, one of our dearest friends in chepalare is an avid fisherman, he is out at least 3 days a week, and does speak english quite well. I would love to put you in contact with him, although I warn you that he is a true outdoorsman and hikes in quite a bit. I see that much of the above discussion is regarding lake fishing, and wonder if your husband is fishing lakes or rivers?
