2000 dirhams a good salary?

Post Posted: Sat Jan 21, 2006 10:26 pm

Hi,
I've been offered a salary of 2000 dirhams plus accomodation and medical paid. I'm just starting out with only two yrs of experience... Is 2000 an okay salary in Dubai? My major expenses would be groceries, food and laundry. Would I be able to save anything?
Divya.

Divya
It depends on what you have been employed to do. If you let me know I might be able to say if it is good or not. It would also be good to know what qualifications you may have.

Cheers!

Well Salim , I m a Muslim by birth and i been living all my life in dubai till i went to law school and started working in US. I have worked in dubai as well.

As a matter of fact, the employement oppourtunities in Dubai is quite competitive, and ofcourse they r trying to spread nationalisation, because most of the arabs are educated abroad n from very good schools.

But tht doesent mean tht they have stopped searching for ppl who r smart n intelligent, n tht decision is not based on religeon. unlike other arab countries, dubai is not a fanatics hub.

So, Divya all i can say is tht 2000 is a fairly good salary for a starter if u r not looking for luxuries. u can afford ur groceries n rent, in a small way, and save a lil penny. with two yrs experience, if not you were working in a very big firm in india, i think its good to go for it. Its a step where u ll learn alot, and traveling all around the world- i would still say- dubai has it all. so grab it. u can always change ur job once u feel saturated. And like this Salim, not everyone is a fanatic who will let u down because u r a non-muslim. If u r smart n fulfill the job profile, y shdnt they take you?

For ur information Mr. Salim, there r accountants in dubai working for 800 dhs as well. Could u place them for a grandsome amt of money wowing tht they r muslims? Get into reality, man. Sheikh Muhammed n his ppl r in dubai not to spread Islam, they r smart leaders looking for smart ppl, n thts the reason dubai is where it is now. It was not build on the basis of religeon, any idiot knows it coz it stands in the world standards now. Its not a group of muslims who built it, its ppl with dream, and ppl who saw tht dream, and ppl who made it come true , n who r still working on it.

All the above said is not to prove anything, but its a personal experience.
Good Luck

Hi Iniyamalar,

There r lots of place close to Burdubai where you can get a 1 br apt with all the above said budget. Golden Sands, n Silver Sands could be a good option.

I am not very sure of preschooling. there are some good schools there like shouifat, cambridge and few more. As ur son is just 1 yr old, I m sure u have enuf time to explore the city. I dont think tht should be a prob.

Regards

Reem
