Henan Expat about satellite dishes
Are you a westerner in Henan Province ?
Hi all !
This is my first post except for the flame that I posted just a minute ago about some one who has the colossal nerve to post a bloody add in this forum.
I am new here (Xinxiang, Henan) and will stay the best part of 3 years to set up a new plant for my company. That means lots of work and few ways to entertain myself in this "village" of 1 million soul.
Having been here 4 weeks already without access to foreign news broadcast I am starting to feel that I am alone on a desert island. I mean it not as a slight to locals. I am in fact surrounded by well meaning people and nice enough colleagues, but ... ! I would like to be able to watch some European satellite TV.
So there comes my question.
Is it possible for me to buy a satellite dish, set it up (a half hour job) orient it as I please and start enjoying the 3am news (hey ! that 8pm for Europe ) ?
Do I have to register that receiving equipment ? Must I pay taxes for that (like for most everything when you happen not to be Chinese here!) ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. And oh ! I am a argentine tango dancer. If anyone female cares to come visit Xinxiang and is an "aficionada" to that, I would be most obliged...
