Work is moving me to Italy, want my parents to come with me.

My work has presented me with the opportunity to move to Italy for a year. I have four children and my husband is deployed, so I would like my parents to come with me, but I cannot find any information on how to obtain visas for them. Can you help?

Hi there,

Firstly, a warm welcome to Expat Focus and our forums, good to hear from you.

About the issues of visas for your parents, I would first contact the Italian consulate for your area of the U.S, see the list at this site:
www.italyemb.org/Jurisdictions.htm

I would think that the main issue would be whether your parents can support themselves financially, or you can, for the period. If you can either call the consulate or maybe email them, they can set you right on what to do.
Italy is a beautiful place, so I hope it works out for ALL of you!

Please ask more questions if you think of them - we'll do our best to assist you Smile

Good luck,

Jo

Thank you. I tried calling the number on that website, but it kept hanging up on me. I will continue to try to get through.
