Greetings!

Post Posted: Fri Aug 03, 2007 3:38 pm

Laughing I am thrilled to be able to contact you all! I have been reading many of the posts whilst awaiting permission to join in!

We have an appartmant in Kavarna Sea Port which we have just had our first stay! To say we have fallen in love with the place would be an understatement. So Plan A is to move out in a couple of years - son just doing A levels.

We furnished our selves from Furniture shop Varna - i can give you some info on that if anyone is interested.

What we didn't do as we had no real measurements is fit the curtains. We did many jobs on our stay - but didn't have time to sort curtains out.

Can anyone give us advise on how we can move along with them whilst we are on the uk? Any shops work from t'internet? Supply and fit? etc

Would love to be in contact with any one who lives close - i saw there was a Kavarna John.

Thanks

Gill

hi gill, just completed a couple of weeks ago on a property a couple of km inland of kranavo.
i am pretty sure pratiker sell them and more then lightly a few other shops but apart from the furniture i do not think their is this type of facility it maily seems to be british based companys that might be there.
there is a few furniture pack companys as you found out but i am having problems finding anything, even in forums.
my first major thing is ballastrding steel and fitting for all the external balconys and stairs in the area.
we are back out there for 8 days in the beggining of october, alan. Smile

Nice to hear from you.

We visited Praktika and i saw all their material - but as we were on a different mission i didn't really stop and look.
Mr Bricolage also did curtains but i can't find anything i can do on the internet.

I can find a company that does blinds of all nature, but because of the way our doors to the balconies open inward - i can't see how we can have those unless the track comes off the ceiling.

Can i ask any of you who are familiar with the weather in winter in this area - should we have 2 sets of curtains; a summer and a winter set?

We have good double glazing on all the windows and whilst we were there 2 weeks ago - boy was it hot - i would have only needed curtains on the side bedroom windows to stop the sun waking us up at the crack of dawn.
But are we to expect really cold winters? Our build was delayed by some below zero temperatures, yet we were told this year there was no winter at all to speak of. Everywhere did look much browner!

Any comments will help

Thanks

Gill

Jim i note that you are going to be in Obrachiste - hope i spelt that right!

We always used to pass through there on one of our missions to Varna. I seems a lovely area. On your shopping missions have you ended up in Varna or is it worth visiting Balchic for home furnishings?

We did have a wander through Kavarna and i think we should be able to get all our DIY needs there were many little hardware shops. We were limited with our transport this time and only had a car for a week - isn't car hire expensive!!! I will have a look in their furniture shop next time we are there - i can't wait!

We got curtains from a shop in Balchik. You take the measurements down, choose the fabric and it took 10 days. I couldn't find any made to measure curtains, even in Praktiker.

I have been told all the villagers are expecting a fierce winter and stocking up on wood and corn.
