Twenty-Something Brits in Rome

Post Posted: Thu Sep 01, 2005 5:45 pm

Dear All,

I am a 22 year old recent graduate from the UK who has always fancied living in Italy, and considering moving to Rome next year and getting a teaching qualification. I will be moving there alone, and was wondering if there is an ex-pat community in Rome, especially people in their twenties? Any ideas how to go about meeting such people?!

With thanks.

hey lindy, my boyfriend and I will be moving to Rome in january, we are both in our twenties (im 23 and he is 25). I would also be very keen to meet up with some ex-pats and get their personal opinions of living abroad...
I lived in Italy when I was 18 for a year, and coming from new zealand didnt meet anyone from my home country for the whole year.. but their were heaps of great european expats, not to mention the fantastically friendly italians!!

Hello Lindy and Jessika,

A warm welcome to Expat Focus and our forums, thanks for joining us!

Well, it sounds pretty hopeful that you could meet up in Rome. And for you Lindy, good news that there are lots of European expats out there, so you'll have people to go out and about with! Good luck to you both and keep in touch, ok??

Thanks for the replies, all very reassuring to know. Although it probably won't happen, I do worry sometimes that going to Rome would be a very lonely experience, despite having friends abroad in Spain and France who have found lots of friends from lots of countries!
I can't wait.

Lindsay
