Hello ,,
I bought the Synergy Spanish and let me tell you or anyone else , it is true. Just try it. Ii is amazing, totally amazing. Why didnt they do something like that in school whan I was a kid.
He gives you a fee course to try it. Once I got into it I could not stop. NO One can teach a language that fast.
jedard

Obiviously you did not read all of what he has to say. Multiply 139 x10 then again by 10

Hi folk. Presently located in South Africa, we are looking to move to Spain, (Newbie early days). Have found a Spanish language website called Synergy Spanish, run by a Marcus Santamaria, claiming to Quote "
With this simple method it takes just 138 words to express just about anything you want to say in Spanish". Has anyone heard of this. Apparently, it's not Tarzan Spanish ( Hello, Me Tarzan, you Jane). Seems far fetched but just maybe. (Only $50) Not the money but don't want to waste time.
Appreciate any comments here....[/quote]

The flaw with all of these things (from top'o'the line Michel Thomas CDs to
last years giveaway in the Independent "speak spanish in 6 weeks") is not
the speaking part, but understanding what the person talking to you
is saying.

It came as quite a shock to me to discover that the native spanish hadn't
taken the same language course that I took, and therefore asked
completely different questions from the ones used on the course - and
their answers weren't textbook either Sad (even if you can get past the
local accent).

Personally, I'd say that once you have the basics (yes, no, that one, 2
beers please, I'm sorry officer it won't happen again) then the biggest part
of the language is understanding other people. Once you can do that you'll
learn more, much more effectively than from a course. After all, that's
how children learn.

Thanks Pete,

That actually makes lots of sense. I suppose watching Spanish movies will help (if I can get them). Looks like I may have to wait un til I am there before learning the language (properly)

Thanks for the help

Regards, Ivor

I find that I can understand a foreigner speaking Spanish far easier than a native

Well, Resources such as books are not enough, since you will have A LOT of difficulty pronouncing the words without a Spanish person teaching you how. Unless you get one of those LangLearner that teach you Spanish like Rosetta Stone...VERY Quick way of learning Spanish & other Languages!!
