hi from new guy moving to seville

Post Posted: Tue Apr 01, 2008 5:52 am

hello people,

I have just discovered this forum and it has already been very useful for me, thanks guys.

my name is jag and i will be moving to seville to start 'life number 2.' this will properly kick off when i get settled which should really happen when i start my new job in seville on the 2nd of june. i'm coming from the outskirts of london, can speak some spanish - long way to go though - and have been wanting to live in spain for many a year now.

is there anyone else in seville on this forum - i tried seville in the search bar but have not really found anything.

i will next be in seville for a few days during the feria, in which time i have one day to apply for the NIE and the certificado de empadronamiento(?). i have the address of a friend who i stay with in seville - can i give her address to the authorities in order to get the NIE etc? i am also hoping that she will be putting me in touch with a good gestor...

also am i correct in assuming that the NIE is effectively my spanish insurance number which my employer needs to complete the contract of employment?

then i need to find a flat, get my car and bike down to seville and get them registered on spanish plates if possible, apply for residency, open a spanish bank account, get a spanish credit card, get health insurance (do i have to?), get a spanish SIM card...better get myself organised!

hope to chat to you soon

cheers,

jag

Welcome to Expat Focus jag, there is a lot for you to do in such a short time, anyway, to kick off. Your NIE is a National Identity Number and is used for just about anything that you need to do here in Spain. You can download the form from the sticky above this forum marked Spanish Forms.

There is information in our Country Guides as well on this matter, and a lot of free advice given freely from our members.

Good Luck

David SR.

We live on the outskirts of Seville. Address is Coria del Rio but we live closer to Dos Hermanas. PM me if you like and we'll help if we can.
