British identity in Dubai

Post Posted: Sun Jun 01, 2008 1:00 am

I’m a postgrad student in Psychology at the LSE. I’m conducting research on British identity abroad and I’m looking for participants.

To participate, you need to be a British expatriate living or working in Dubai. I will conduct one-on-one interviews between June 16-30 (each interview shouldn’t last longer than 30-40 mins). Interviews will be informal and an opportunity for you to tell me about your experience and life in Dubai.

Following your participation, I will organize a social event where you can meet new people and enjoy drinks/snacks.

Please let me know if you’re interested and we can arrange a time that suits you.

Olga

Hi there,

The proposed dates may be slowing your responses down a little perhaps Olga. During the school hols and the middle of the heat, many people will be on their vacations, but there will still be thousands of Brits left in town during those dates, so I'm sure you'll be able to sort a few interviews out.

Could I suggest you try contacting the agents for some of the UK Universities operating via Dubai. I'm 99% sure LSE has some association with IITM in Knowlege Village also try Stafford Associates in Knowlege village for Leicester. Just a post on a notice board or inclusion in a circular mail would probably get a few interviews lined up. You may be able to tie into to something like a tutorial day where UK profs come out to meet with PT post grad students etc? If you don't be asking, you don't be getting!

I would guess the "Essex" of the Middle East certainly has plenty of material for you to draw on for a post grad Psych degree!!

Good luck!
