As far as rentals are concerned. I found that www.bhomes.com was good in giving you an idea of what to expect. Of course it all depends on what your budget is. If you can afford it, it seems to me that the Jumeirah area is quite nice. That said, I am sure that other Dubai residents here will give you better advice, based on real life experience.

Hi Brad,

Welcome to Expat Focus.

Firstly, you are not alone! This is the time of year where there is a distinct amount of movement between the school years, so while school and rental places are tight - there are always people leaving, and families like yourself coming in.

Personaly, my family and I are based down the road a couple of hours in Abu Dhabi, but we have a large number (majority) of posters who are Dubai based, so I'm sure someone will be able to offer first hand advise.

If you would like to post specific questions (Is it cost, recomended schools, curriculum offered? etc) and accomodation - If you can be more specific about budget, are you looking for advice on areas? and where is you're new company based?

Any of our Dubai experts on line to help Brad..?

Great to have you on the forums

Hi Brad. I just returned home (US) yesterday from a whirlwind visit and am in the midst of locating housing and schooling myself. (Job offer extended and accepted Monday evening while dining at Arabian Courtyard, Dubai -- Laughing )

What curriculum are you looking for? British, American, or International. You will find it frustrating I'm sure, but American curriculum spots for those ages are hard to come by. Mine are 5 and 8. Dubai American Academy in Barsha had openings for 3rd grade, but not Kindergarten as of early this week. However, know, GEMS Schools I've found are typically on the VERY expensive side. I also was told a few weeks ago that The Philadelphia Private School (American curriculum) had openings for my 5 and 8 year old...

Hope this helps.
