Finally im here

Post Posted: Fri Sep 05, 2008 7:33 pm

Hi everyone,
Just felt the urge to tell you all i finally made it here to Holland from Australia. None of you may remember me but i visited my family here in Holland for a few weeks and ever since have been saving and planning to move here for an extended period. It feels so good to be here after all this time. I guess theres no real morale to this topic but to brag about me having finally arrived here. Would love to get involved in any cool meets you guys setup and what-not, im living in a small town called Lutjebroek at the moment with family and am only just now starting to get work etc. I have a Dutch passport now as my mum is dutch so i intend to stay for quite some time. Would love to hear from you other expats or if any are close by.

Cheers,
Ben (20,m,Aus)

Hi Ben,

Welcome to the Netherlands. Glad to hear that you finally succeeded to come and stay here for a longer period.
Do you already know Dutch ? If not: start learning it as soon as possible as it is very helpful while you stay here. There are lots of courses.

Good luck and enjoy your stay!

Agnes

Yes no im another ignorant expat coming to smother the countries beauty. Haha, no i do greatly regret not learning more dutch while i was in Australia but my motivation is terrible for that kinda thing. I am aware of the many courses available and am gona jump on that wagon asap! just in the few weeks ive been here my family has drilled many sayings and helpful words into my head, but for sure i will have to clean up my grammar and writing skills if i intend to stay here. Is anyone on this forum going to earthdance? its next saturday the 13th in Amsterdam be great to see yas there. visit the website if your interested. i wont advertise but google it if ya interested.

Hi Ben, I just noticed your post while looking through the forum, am I right in thinking you are 20? if so, you are the same age as my son.
We live in Brisbane, i'm dutch and my son was born in Brisbane.
We are going back to holland for a 5 week holidayin december and this will be the first time for my son.
He has an australian passport, his first one, but do you think he can get a dutch one as well?? both or does he have to give the Aussie one back??
I'm still dutch, so hopefully it shouldn't be a problem.
I would like for him to have both, it also makes it easier, I think to travel through Europe in the future if he wants to.
That of course depends on whether he likes holland or not.
Do you like holland??
Anyway, please write back when you can, i'm looking forward to your reply.
Have fun!!
Martha
