Looking for English expats in Sofia

Post Posted: Sun Oct 02, 2005 4:15 pm

Hi I am from Swindon near Oxford UK, I have been married to a Bulgarian woman for 14 months and I'm learning the language slowly, but do miss a real conversation in English so if any of u expats want to get together sometime for some good chat or good future friendships please get in touch, by the way I'm a young 49 years old and my wife is 40 and speaks fluent English...................We are returning to the UK shortly for several months to run our English side of our Bulgarian business, but will keep in touch to any replies we receive while in the UK.

Funny that, fancy people from Bulgaria actually speak Bulgarian

Whatever next , you will be telling us they speak French in France.

I think until anyone can speak fluently in another language, it is very difficult, to communicate and is very fustrating. Give people a chance, at least he is trying to learn, and you have to admit, Bulgarian is very difficult for us Brits to pick up

HOW PITY.....it's not in the English language Smile oh and by the way if you can read English it said in my posting my wife speaks fluent English so where is the communication problem...!
We couldn't agree with you more jjmmdd

Hey Glyn,
this appears to be a good website. I know what you mean. Its very well to speak to one person in English constantly, though it can get a little boring / no offence wifes /husbands. Unfortuantely I am not in BG at the moment, but will no doubt b there again this yr.
My husband is Bulgarian and although he tries to translate consistantly for me, its very difficult, for him - and me at the table of about 20 to do this all night,,,
How are you learning the language?.
take care,
saf
