Cost to Live in CR

Post Posted: Sun Oct 26, 2008 1:42 am

I am looking into retiring in CR as a perpetual tourist. I basically need to know about how much a month I will need to live comfortably. I will be renting for now and do not have to be right on the beach. I am retired from the Army and will be getting Social Security in 2 years. Thanks in advance for any advice.

George

Hello George
Depending on your lifestyle it can vary considerably but on average you can live comfortably on $1500 a month, more or less.
I don´t advise living as a perpetual tourist because of the constant risk of being deported, or not being able to reenter the country.
This of course is matter of luck and several people get away with it, the government cracks down on this practice from time to time.
Enjoy Costa Rica !

Its all totally depend on your way of style you want to reside there.....I think $1500 is the minimum range for normal living in Costa Rica with all facilities...

Why $1,500? From what I've seen you can get a nice place to live furnished with utilities included for $500 a month. There's no way food and other stuff is going to cost another $1,000 a month? How much is car insurance, renter's insurance, and things like that cost in Costa Rica?
