Permanent house swapping

Post Posted: Sat Nov 01, 2008 7:49 pm

Hi everyone,

My partner and I were hoping to sell up and move to Spain asap and placed our house on the market back in September. It's a pretty good house in a little village on a river but despite that the current market crisis has meant that we have had zero enquiries, despite knocking about 18% of the price.

I was introduced to the idea of performing a permanent house swap, with someone in Spain who may wish to move back to the UK. It makes sense, in that neither party would be concerned about falling house prices if they were swapping like for like. I found a few people on the Internet (nothing's worked out yet) but I can't easily find any websites that solely deal in this concept.

Is anyone aware of a/some website(s) that cater in this type of thing? If you do a search online you tend to get holiday swaps and not permanent swaps.

Thanks Emile

Cheers jt190105. The site is useful. In terms of the house that your link points at, I'm afraid we're looking for something in the country with grounds.

Two good house swap websites are www.internationalpropertyswap.com, also www.globalswops.com. We are trying to move from where we are in Spain, and because the market is so bad I think swap is a good option.
