Hi, I have a few properties in Bulgaria, I used to have 2 properties in Granitovo, & one in Elhovo, but I sold them now. These vilages are very very overpriced for Bulgaria, often you will find that the owners ask for more than the advertised price when you see the property, or try to make a pre contract. Granitovo was called the English vilage until recently. Also builders are twicethe price for renovations, due to the demand!!
I would not reccomend them at all, be carefull as most houses stated on websites as Elhovo, are actually a small tatty village miles away.
Most bargains & quality can be bought in Pleven, vratsa & montana, & Plovdiv.
How right you are!! I searched all over the place in Bulgaria with estate agents and eventually bought a property with the help of a Bulgarian friend ( now my business partner) and I live in a village approximately 35 kms from Montana. The prices are good, the houses are plentiful and cheap, the land is a good size and the villages are lovely. Plus legal costs and builders costs are very very reasonable here.
I am so enamoured of it all that I have now started my own small, select property company in this area while it is still so unspoilt and for anyone interested have a look at Countrywide Bulgaria website to see a selection of properties with many more waiting to come on once the owners are located and the prices established. I have photos of one house we are currently renovating in the same village as myself if anyone wants to see what a transformation is possible. Plus we have the advantage of a Uk link having a partner based there as well able to advise on flights, currency, hotels, building plans etc.
