ancestry search in Greece

Post Posted: Wed Feb 17, 2010 4:55 am

I am a new member, traveling but not moving to, Greece, in May, 2010. We are in search of my husbands grandfather's birth place and possible burial site, which we think is Lykoudi, Greece. Not getting much help from Greek Embassy in US. Looking to contact a dept. in Greece that deals with statistics, births/deaths, etc. We do know he came over to U.S. in 1912, moved to St. Louis, where he lived for approx. 50+ years and understand that he went back to Greece to live out his years. No other relatives are alive that we know of and want to research more on Lykoudi before driving in unfamiliar Greek countryside and not Greek-speaking!

Anyone have any ideas on how to contact an agency in Greece?

Thank you, Carol Chrismer
