Hi Dannea,
Cant answer your question but if you dont find one we solved the problem in South Africa with a bit of DIY by fitting the tap with a "hat' that fitted over the tap, a pin was passed through the sides of the "hat" below the tap and a padlock secured the pin. The hat can be of metal or a drainpipe type plastic.

Hope this helps

Dannea,

I replied on the other site, for those on this site fit a lock on the meter box, like those fitted on the mail boxes. Useless if you do not have a clear panel for the meter reader.

Ours is a diy job...L shape piece of steal bolted to the wall and the other part of the L and the tap handle both have a hole drilled into them, we then attach a pad lock (through the holes)....it does the trick and most of our neighbours have now done the same.

You can buy a tap with a removable tap handle easily in the UK - you can see only a small triangular shaped spindle with the head removed and its almost impossible to turn the tap on without the proper tap head, certainly sufficient security for most users.

Surprisingly the UK threads and connector fittings are the same as PT

I have seen the same thing fitted here but think they are a German or Italian import. Where have you tried so far as most big plumbing distributors should be able to offer something ?

I find the concern about locking taps a bit worrying, are they water thieves around?

In answer to the question: are there water thieves about....

If you are in an area of development and/or something is being built in close proximity, it seems to be the practice for some builders to use the outside tap of those that are 'not at home'. I actually dont think they believe it is unacceptable. Probably something that regularly happened when most properties obtained water from boreholes and/or were communial and old habit die hard.
