I wish to move to Denmark

Post Posted: Fri Jun 18, 2010 10:10 pm

I am a english speaking 47 year old woman living in Ontario Canada and I wish to relocate to Denmark. I am not sure how to go about immigrating there and also to look for a job that I can do since I only speak english, I do not know how to speak dutch unfortunately.

I find myself at this point in my life bored with my job, I work for a union and I no longer find the job challenging.
I feel I need a fresh start in my life and moving and having a different job would be so good for me and also very exciting.
I find Canada is no longer the country that it once was unfortunately. The government is constantly adding tax onto us and now that we have lost all our well paying jobs in the automotive industry things are pretty bad here. The new wage here seems to be about $15.00 per hour where it once was alot higher. Soon Canadians will not be able to afford food because of all the tax we pay.

Sounds like you are really fed up...
I am intrigued what made you choose Denmark? Why not another English speaking country where the language would not present a problem re finding employment?

Can anyone help re Visas and job prospects?

All the best
Carole

Sorry, I can't help with visa info or job leads but I can tell you that I have Danish friends that I communicate with online all the time and they're such a happy bunch. I can't figure out what makes the Danes so happy but they do seem to socialize more than North Americans do. I hope you enjoy Denmark Carole. I do know that job-wise things are very tight in Copenhagen at the moment and the Danes have one of the highest tax rates in the world. Taxes there are much higher than in Canada. They have very good social services though.
