Going on vacation, what to lookup before move?

Post Posted: Sat Jul 31, 2010 5:50 pm

I'm going to take a vacation in south Cyprus (Larnaca), I may want to move there later.

What are the things that I really should look up when I'm down there?

The obvious are of course:

* If I like the place.
* Prices.

What more? Very Happy

Hi Pilke,

If you are looking to purchase a property I would be aware of the following which holds true regardless of where you are looking to purchase

- Use a licensed estate agent
- Use an independent solicitor
- How is the property constructed?
- Is the property insulated?
- Central heating? If so which type?
- Are there any signs of damp or mold?
- Location - consider your purchase carefully. Is this a place for holidays or to live? If you want peace and quiet do not buy in the middle of a tourist area. Tourist are noisey and WILL keep you awake all night as they party.
- Is Air con preinstalled
- Is the property in walking distance to basic amenties ie chemist, doctors supermarkets ect...if not, what sort or Public transport is available?

The list is endless...

Please can anyone else help Pike with further suggestions? Cool

Kind Regards
Piglet Very Happy

Here's a reply several months too late. But yes, I did go to Larnaca and it was really nice.
If everything goes as planned I'll be staying a couple of months next time. Smile

Keep off the island at this moment, we are having several power cuts each day, temps are in the mid to upper 30c and it is very unpleasant, stay cool.
