Proposed Brit Club in Izmir

Post Posted: Fri Jul 22, 2011 4:09 pm

Received the following today- sounds a good idea. Any thoughts or suggestions? I'll be happy to pass them on. Thanks! Smile Would be very pleased to hear input from people in other cities or countries too!
Some info blanked out for obvious reasons.

Dear member of the British community:

Some members of the community have expressed their hope that a British Club might be formed with occasional meetings that would bring members together for fellowship .The British community is not as cohesive as it used to be, and there is no focal point where a club could meet.

I am writing to ask if you would be interested in launching such a venture. I would be very happy to offer the facilities of ............... as a meeting place where we could gather to discuss the idea further. Just let me know what you think and I’ll get back to you. And please let others know.

Why just a Brit club and not an International Club of Izmir?
I would go for the second and support it as much as I can here in Izmir.

Hi! Thanks for the welcome! Hosbulduk!
I'm already a (sort of) citizen of Izmir and I'm enjoying it a lot. I'm getting married here on September.

Well we could meet and talk more if you're also an Izmir resident, and we could brainstorm around the idea. I'm originally from Athens, I was there involved with the International Club of Athens (a very special bar with very special happenings almost weekly) and I also have my own business in Germany, near Munich. Maybe if we internationals in Izmir will join forces could end up with something nice and fresh. I can see already that Izmir has a lot of potentials for many new and fresh start-ups of ideas like this one!

You may reach me on my email anytime: christopoulosg @ gmail.com.
All the best!

Thanks for the wishes!

Where do these meetings happen and when? Who's organizing them?
Could we also attend them at one point?
Thanks!

Association of international women in Izmir, Turkey.
I couldn't access the web page just now, may be there is a prob or things are quiet because of the summer!
When I hear more news, I'll post here.
They meet once a month- at least- and there are other activities going on eg fund raising for charities or meals out.
All the best! Smile
