Drivers in TR just love the hard shoulder or emergency stopping lane!
They're so clever, they make use of it every chance they get! Smile

Veggies prepared in olive oil are an important part of the menu in TR, especially in the Aegean region.
My personal favourites are stuffed vine leaves and stuffed courgette flowers! Smile One of my sister-in-laws prepares both! Last summer she invited all the family for lunch, just a simple one dears she said! She's always trying to teach me to do these 'easy' dishes but they seem too complicated and time consuming. Luckily for us she enjoys making them! Smile
Pictured below- stuffed courgette flowers, stuffed vine leaves, cheese pie and fresh green beans cooked in olive oil.

The bus stop! Smile Spotted opposite our favourite fish restaurant in Kara Pinar, Urla, 70 km or so from Izmir.

There are many dilapidated houses and even ruins dotted around Izmir. Most of them are protected from developers, sadly some of them are almost collapsing and become dangerous to passers by. When this happens the owners or local council erect a type of metal cage around the building.
