Hotel reservation.

Is it worthwhile making reservations in hostels or should you just walk in?.
My parents have just been to Sydney and their reservation at a recommended hostel was "lost" and they was consequently turned away. Does anyone have any tips on how to avoid this, or whether it is worthwhile at all to make a reservation?

Not many hostels in Thailand, not necessary as budget guest houses are so cheap. Some guest houses get listed on hostel websites.

You're going in low season (expect to get wet) so no need to book ahead, but if you do Agoda.com is quite good.

In Bangkok, if you want to stretch that big budget you've got and stay in a budget guest house amongst other young backpackers, head to Khaoson Road. (K-O-San). All taxi drivers know it.
