"Insurance" cold calling.

Hi folks,

Wednesday evening I had a call from someone I didn't know (but not a hidden number) and he eventually said (in PT) I'll get someone to call you who can speak English (despite his gabbling on!).

Thursday Evening along came the call, but again not much communication until I yelled "mais devagar faz favor..", again."We'll call back with someone who speaks English", but before he could hang up I asked who he was and what he wanted????

Ah! This is IG (or LG) Seguranca and we're calling to offer you increased warranty on your equipment in the house..... he admitted this was "off script".

No Thanks!!

Worst case scenario is they would know what I've got and whether it's worthwhile sending the boys round to relieve me of it.......

Best is it's any way to make money in the current eonomic climate.

Number is:- 210 410 080

Anyone else had this??

Regards

Robin

Not had any calls regarding insurance, but have received two evening calls over the past three months from Barclaycard, the caller was Portuguese but spoke good English. No hard sell, when I told him I didn't use credit cards, he apologised for troubling me and rang off. I have never had a Barclaycard, although I bank with Barclays in the UK, both calls were to my mobile and Barclays do not have that number so I don't know how he got it, unless Vodafone have flogged my information to Barclaycard, I forgot to ask, but will do so if they call again.
